Braces treatment
What to Expect & How It Works
Braces are a common orthodontic treatment used to straighten teeth, correct bite issues, and improve overall dental health. Whether you’re considering braces for yourself or a child, understanding the process can help you make an informed decision.
Types of Braces
🔹 Metal Braces: Traditional braces with metal brackets and wires, known for their durability and effectiveness.
🔹 Ceramic Braces: Similar to metal braces but with tooth-colored brackets for a more discreet look.
🔹 Lingual Braces: Placed on the back of the teeth, making them nearly invisible.
🔹 Clear Aligners (e.g., Invisalign): A removable, transparent option for mild to moderate misalignment.
Braces Treatment Process
1️⃣ Consultation & X-Rays – Your orthodontist will assess your teeth and bite to determine the best type of braces for you.
2️⃣ Placement of Braces – Brackets are attached to teeth with special adhesive, and wires are inserted to begin shifting teeth.
3️⃣ Regular Adjustments – Every 4-6 weeks, your orthodontist will tighten or adjust the braces to continue aligning your teeth.
4️⃣ Completion & Retainers – Once the treatment is complete (usually 12-36 months), a retainer is provided to maintain results.
Benefits of Braces
✅ Straightens teeth and improves smile aesthetics
✅ Corrects bite issues (overbite, underbite, crossbite)

✅ Prevents excessive wear on teeth due to misalignment
Caring for Braces
✔ Brush and floss carefully around brackets to prevent plaque buildup
✔ Avoid sticky, hard, and sugary foods that can damage braces
✔ Use orthodontic wax to relieve irritation from brackets
✔ Keep up with dental checkups and adjustments
